A parallel spectral element method for dynamic three-dimensional nonlinear elasticity problems

چکیده
We present a high-order method employing Jacobi polynomial-based shape functions, as an alternative to the typical Legendre polynomial-based shape functions in solid mechanics, for solving dynamic threedimensional geometrically nonlinear elasticity problems. We demonstrate that the method has an exponential convergence rate spatially and a second-order accuracy temporally for the four classes of problems of linear/geometrically nonlinear elastostatics/elastodynamics. The method is parallelized through domain decomposition and message passing interface (MPI), and is scaled to over 2000 processors with high parallel performance. 2008 Elsevier Ltd. The Nonlinear Bending Analysis for Circular Nano Plates Based on Modified Coupled Stress and Three- Dimensional Elasticity Theories
In this paper, the nonlinear bending analysis for annular circular nano plates is conducted based on the modified coupled stress and three-dimensional elasticity theories. For this purpose, the equilibrium equations, considering nonlinear strain terms, are calculated using the least energy potential method and solved by the numerical semi-analytical polynomial method. According to the previous ...

An iterative substructuring method for the system of linear elasticity in three dimensions is introduced and analyzed. The pure displacement formulation for compressible materials is discretized with the spectral element method. The resulting stiiness matrix is symmetric and positive deenite. The method proposed provides a domain decomposition preconditioner constructed from local solvers for t...
متن کاملModified Fixed Grid Finite Element Method to Solve 3D Elasticity Problems of Functionally Graded Materials
In the present paper, applicability of the modified fixed grid finite element method in solution of three dimensional elasticity problems of functionally graded materials is investigated. In the non-boundary-fitted meshes, the elements are not conforming to the domain boundaries and the boundary nodes which are used in the traditional finite element method for the application of boundary condit...
متن کاملStochastic simulation of riser-sections with uncertain measured pressure loads and/or uncertain material properties
We investigate three-dimensional problems in solid mechanics with stochastic loading or material properties. To solve these problems, we use a spectral expansion of the solution and random inputs based on Askey-type orthogonal polynomials in terms of independent, identically distributed (i.i.d) random variables. A Galerkin procedure using these types of expansions, the generalized Polynomial Ch...
